Among them, Article 4: Effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and special interests of female employees. Article 9: Earnestly carry out the work on special collective contracts for the protection of female employees’ rights and interests, with particular emphasis on the four-phase protection for female employees and comprehensive screening for gynecological diseases.
Premier Wen Jiabao issued instructions emphasizing the importance of labor protection for female workers, thereby explicitly placing the health protection of female workers high on the trade union’s agenda. From the “rational use of funds earmarked for the special protection of female workers’ interests” to this year’s Two Sessions, where it was approved that these funds should be used “in accordance with the law” for the special protection of female workers’ interests, all clearly demonstrate the nation’s and the people’s deep concern and attention toward female workers. The continuous revision of national policies demonstrates the growing emphasis on women’s rights and interests. Various enterprises, institutions, and trade union organizations are also actively engaged in safeguarding the labor rights of female employees, responding to the call made by Wang Zhaoguo, Chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, to “harness social forces to advance trade union endeavors,” and truly delivering practical and effective measures to protect the special interests of female workers.
